Funeral services for Anderson "Mackie" "Smitty" Smith, 78 of Vidalia, LA will be held March 26, 2014 at 11:00 am from Young's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Vidalia. Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery in Natchez, MS. Rev. Jarrod Bottley will officiate.

Mr. Smith, son of George and Olivia Wilson Smith was born in Natchez and died at Community Hospital in Natchez.

He served in the US Army from June 1956 to October 1957, earning an honorable discharge. He was well known in Vidalia as an employee of Lewis Grocery Store for many years. He was also a carpenter.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Irene Redmond Smith; five children, Reginald Smith, Sr. and his wife, Trina; Kirk Johnson; Brenda Smith; Irene S. Payne and her husband, Clifford all of Vidalia; Anita Dean and her husband, Lonnie of Natchez. his twin brother, George Smith, Jr. and his wife, Ruby of Brentwood, CA; four sisters, Lois Ellis and her husband, Jessie of Durante, CA; Virta Hawkins  and Voncil Phillips both of Los Angeles, CA; Joyce Smith of Gardena, CA; god brother, Nathaniel Williams of Vidalia; a close cousin, Louis Williams of Natchez; twenty eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relative.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Willie Smith and Otis Smith; two sisters, Katherine Mitchell and Olivia Smith and a grandson.
