Funeral services for Mr. Arthur J. Hurts, Sr. 80, of Natchez, MS will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 from Bright Star Baptist Church, 509 Maple Street, Natchez, MS. He will be interred beside his beloved wife, Gertrude Hurts at the Natchez National Cemetery in Natchez with military honors. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4 to 6pm at the Concordia Funeral Home. Rev. Irving  Dean will officiate.

Mr. Hurts, son of L. G. and Ophelia Wycoff Hurts, was born in Goudeau, LA and died at Merit Health Natchez Hospital in Natchez. He was an honorably discharged veteran with the US Army, having served a tour of duty from July 10, 1962 to June 24, 1964. He was also a retired  Math teacher for the Wilkinson County School System in Woodville, MS. He will be remembered for being a DYNAMIC Mathematician throughout his teaching career.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, sisters, Helen Coleman, Vera Lee Steward, Jerry Lean Hurts; a brother, Rubel Hurts and a nephew, Lawrence Steward.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one sister, Rosa Jackson of Port Arthur, TX; his children, Darryl Hurts, Sr., Denise Hurts, Arthur Hurts, Jr. and Kermit Hurts ; a special niece, Rose Mitchell; a foster daughter, Shawn McKnight all  of Natchez.

Also his beloved grandchildren, LaTaija Hurts, Voncita Hurts, Brandy Bruce, Kermishala Hurts, Tylon Hurts, Jayln Hurts, Natia Jones, Orianna Banks, Tylisha Jenkins, Ashanti McKnight, Keidric Winding, Darrly Hurts, Jr., Darnell Stevenson and Gene Jones, Jr. Nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and former students.
