Funeral services for Dexter Lee Washington, 57, of Houston, TX will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00am from the Myrtle Grove Baptist Church in Waterproof, LA. Burial will follow at the Good Samaritan Cemetery in Waterproof. Rev. Dan Raymo will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, Saturday morning until service time at the church. Dexter Lee Washington affectionately known as "Poon Poon", was born on September 14, 1968 to the late Leola Washington and Henry Savage in Newellton, Louisiana. Spiritually, Dexter dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Ezekiel Perry. Dexter was Educated in the Tensas Parish School System at Lisbon Elementary and Waterproof High School.  He also earned several certifications and trades. Dexter's professions over his career include: CBI Forklift Operator with McDermott and JDE-NCSA-USA-Onshore Construction Company, ExxonMobil, current job; Broad Ridge Construction / Amazon as Plant Superintendent and etc. Dexter enjoyed having a good time with his family and friends. As life would have it, he would meet and marry the Love of his life Cecilia Ellis-Washington.

On Monday, March 2, 2026 Dexter departed his earthly life to enter into eternal home. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Cecilia Ellis-Washington; one daughter: Angelica Davis of Ferriday, LA; one bonus son: Keywand Batiste of Savannah, GA; two aunts: Ceola Washington and Rosie Ellis of New Orleans, LA; one uncle: Wash Henry; eleven sisters: Erika Oguori, Sophia and Rhonda Washington, Kendra Barece and Debra Hartsfield (Ray) all of Powder Springs, GA;  Shantell Washington of Atlanta, GA, Kizzy Washington of Mableton, GA, Carol Williams (Barry)  and Gwen Taylor of Ferriday, LA and Glenda Bailey of Vidalia, LA;  nine brothers: Leonard Lee of New Orleans, Matthew and Orlando (Ethel) Washington, Dairain Washington of Powder Springs, GA, Imari Washington of Ferriday, LA, Alfred Davis Sr. (Ima) of Vidalia, LA, Henry Savage of Stockton, CA, Michelle Savage of Oakland, CA, and Jeffery Harris (Shiesha) of Lafayette, LA; seven grandchildren: A'Leila and Zac'Kary Davis, A'Miyah Scott, Bray'Lei, Brooklyn, De'Marcus and Khristiana Goldman, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Dexter is preceded in death by his parents: Leola Washington and Henry Savage; maternal and paternal grandparents; three brothers: Zachary Washington, Gary and Michael Savage; three nephews: Ronald Washington, LaDrian Davis and Fred McCray, Jr.
