Funeral services for Gardest S. January, 94, of Vidalia, LA will be held November 28, 2014 at 11:30am from Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Willie January, at the Natchez National Cemetery in Natchez, MS. Rev. Johnny Elery will officiate.

Mrs. January was born in Natchez, daughter of Exerleaner Sewell and died November 21, 2014 at Natchez Regional Medical Center in Natchez. She taught school in the Miss/Lou area for many years. She is a graduate of Brumfield High School in Natchez and Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS.

She is survived by six step children, Willie James, Jr., and his wife, Elvira of Burlington, NJ; Mark A. James and his wife, Irene; and Daryl James and his wife, Debra all of Willingboro, NJ; Russell James of Virginia Beach, VA; Beverly Boone and her husband, Jesse of Pormouth, VA; Cheryl Harris of Newport News, VA; one sister, Audrey Knight of Natchez; two brothers, Lee Jasper Sewell and Earl Sewell both of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Lori James of Manhattan, NY and Wilynda James of Philadelphia, PA; and a number of other grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
