Funeral services for Gary DeWayne " G-Thang"  Smith, 55, of Ferriday, LA will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11am from the Kingdom Living Ministries, 203 Doty Road in Ferriday under the directions of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Consuerella Cemetery on Lake St. John in Waterproof, LA. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 6pm at the funeral home. Bishop Justin Conner will officiate.

Mr. Smith, son of Clarence Smith, Sr, and Roxie Mae Hines Smith , was born in Ferriday and died at the Ochsner LSU Health System in Monroe, LA. He was a heavy equipment operator.

Gary leaves to remember his life, love and legacy to his son, Gary'on Leonard;  his siblings, Sandra Faye Evans, Juanita Jefferson, Rebecca Jones all of Ferriday; Amanda Whitley of College Park, GA;  Diane Smith, Jacqueline Smith, Tameka Jimminez (Edwardo) and William Hines (Lorraine) all of Las Vegas, NV.

Also three uncles, L. C. Woodruff (Vanessa) of Los Angeles, CA; Jarnell Hines of Savannah, GA; Darnell Hines (Doris) of Ferriday; two aunts, Patricia Lewis (Fred) of Wake Forest, NC and Margie Hines of Baton Rouge, LA. In addition to a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and his good friends, Lawrence "Ponk" Garrison and Carolyn Milligan of Ferriday.

Preceding Mr. Smith in death are his parents, three brothers, Ronnie Smith, Roger Wiley and Clarence Smith, Jr. and one sister, Juliann Robinson.
