Funeral services for Gilbert T. Wexler, 53, of Ridgecrest, LA will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00am from Greater Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Vidalia, LA. Burial will follow at the Whitehall Cemetery also in Vidalia. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home with Rev. Raymond Riley, Sr. officiating.

Mr. Wexler, son of Theodore McCoy and Dorothy Martin Wexler was born in Natchez, MS and died at his residence. He was a correctional officer for LaSalle Correctional Center in Jena, LA and his previous employment was at Vidalia Apparel and WalMart in Vidalia. Also he was a 1981 graduate of Vidalia High School in Vidalia.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife of sixteen years, Karla Mitchell Wexler; one daughter, Sha-Reeba Wexler; step-daughter, Sha-Darrian Smith; one step grandson, LaPatrick Smith all of Ridgecrest. his mother, Dorothy W. Martin and her husband, Willie of Waterproof, LA; two brothers, Guy B. Henry and his wife, Lenora of South Carolina; Glenn M. Henry of Houston, TX; one sister Brenda Larry of Natchez, MS; four brothers-in-law, Patrick Mitchell and his wife, Lena; Leon Francis, Marcus Francis and Lionel Francis all of Jonesville, LA; four sisters-in-law, Yolanda Mitchell, Yvette Mitchell, Sheena Mitchell and Angela Jackson all of Tallulah, LA.

Also his maternal grandmother, Elnora W. Albert; three aunts, Lottie M. Albert, Betty A. Wilson, Elnora A. Riley and her husband, Rev. Raymond Riley, Sr. all of Vidalia; three uncles, Willie Albert of New Orleans, LA; James Albert of Dallas, TX; Charles A. Albert and his wife, Idella of Vidalia; two great-aunts, Ruby Davis and Ellen Lynch both of Vidalia, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, in-laws and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Wexler is preceded in death by his father; one brother, Theodore L. Henry; maternal grandfather, Deacon Willie Albert, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Margaret Compton; one aunt, Carrie L. Albert; two uncles, John Henry Albert and David Rogers Albert, Sr., one great-uncle, John Henry Woodard; four great aunts, Eloise Turner, Leola Ellis, Florida M.
