Funeral services for James I. Barber, 64, of Harvey, LA formerly of Ferriday, LA will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00am from St. Matthews Baptist Church on Lake St. John in Ferriday. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Pastor Jennie Kimble officiating.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, July 2, 2015 from 6 to 7pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Barber, son of James and Creola Jefferson Barber was born in Natchez, MS and died at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, LA.

He is survived by his mother of Ferriday; two children Jeremy and Kierstin Mitchell both of New Orleans, LA; his fiance', Albertine Celestine of Marrero; two brothers, William Barber and his wife, Edna; Clarence Barber both of Ferriday; seven sisters, Gladys Welsh and her husband, Herbert; Frances Wilson and her husband, Henderson both of Marrero; Ella Alexander and her husband, Jimmy of Columbia, SC; Leola Grant and her husband, Isaiah of Orlando, FL; Alice Barber of Hawthorne, CA; Deloris Barber and Jennie Barber both of Ferriday; six aunts, two uncles and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Barber is preceded in death by his father.
