Services for James Claiborne, 48, of Ferriday, LA were held August 30, 2014 at the Greater St. Reed Baptist Church in Ferriday. Burial followed at Ferriday Cemetery with Bishop Justin Conner officiating.

Mr. Claiborne, son of Willie Ford and Lucy M. Claiborne was born in Natchez, MS and died at the Our Lady of the Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. He was an oilfield truck driver.

He is survived by his long-time companion, Matilda Lee; one son, James Claiborne both of Ferriday; one brother, David Claiborne and his wife, Kenesha of Seabrook, TX; one grandson, Jaden Galtney.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Wilson.
