Funeral services for John Franklin, Sr. 86, of Ferriday, LA will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00am from St. Thomas Baptist Church in Levee Heights, Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery in Ferriday with Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.
Mr. Franklin, son of Williams and Lillian Vaughn Franklin was born in Bayou Current, LA and died at Camelot Leisure Home in Ferriday. He was a retired boiler room foreman at the sawmill.
He is survived by his companion, Rosie Lee Hooper of Ferriday; twelve children, Rayfield Franklin, Jim Johnson and Judy Johnson all of Houston, TX; Michael Castle of Morrow, LA; James Franklin and John Franklin both of Jonesville, LA; Anthony C. Franklin, Janets Thompson, Helen Baker, Warren Neal and Lisa Sheppard all of Ferriday; Mary Franklin of St. Joseph, LA.
Also nine step children, Johnnie Jackson and Samuel Jackson both of Ferriday; Mabel Jackson of Lake Charles, LA; Johnnie Hooper, Elvis Hooper, Shirley Hooper, Jimmy Hooper and Venora Hooper all of Ferriday; Earl Neal of Natchez, MS; twenty grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren. And his very good friend, Willie Turner of Ferriday. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Larry Franklin, Zan Franklin and Robert Franklin; two grandchildren, Michelle Lee Allen and Joshua Kimble; one great-grandchild, Mekhi Anthony Compton.
