Funeral services for Lawrence Martin, Jr. 69, of Ferriday, LA will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11:00am from the Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery with military honors in Natchez, MS. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4 to 6pm at the St. James Baptist Church on Skipper Drive in Ferriday. Bishop Robert Cade will officiate,

Mr. Martin, son of Lawrence and Ethel "Kitty" Henderson Martin, was born in Ferriday and died at his residence. He was retired from the railroad as a trackman. He also served his country in the UA Army during the Vietnam War earning two bronze medals.

He is survived by his wife, Sherria Lloyd Martin ; his mother-in-law, Willie B. Lloyd; his children, Lawrence Gardner and his wife, Angela V. Johnson all of Ferriday; Keith Whitley of Houston, TX; Cedric Webb of Memphis, TN; Dimetra Foster and Jokora Davis both of Monroe, LA; four brothers, Billy Ray Martin and his wife, Karen of Houston; Lee Andrew Martin and his wife, Juanita; Joseph Martin; Eddie Lee Martin and his wife, Joyce;  three sisters, Patricia Martin Williams and her husband Elmore all of Ferriday; Gladys McCray and her husband, Joe; and  Annie Palms all of Houston.

Also eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of cousins and other relatives , friends and loved ones. Mr. Martin is preceded in death by his parents.
