Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie O'Neal Powell, 93, of Clayton, LA will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00am from St. Mary Baptist Church on Lake St. John, Ferriday, LA. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Powell, daughter of Phillip and Savannah Washington O'Neal was born in Natchez, MS and died at her residence.  She was a longtime member of St. Mary Baptist Church a retired beautician.

She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Powell; four  sons, Abdul Sabir and his wife, Wajeedah; Arthur Powell and his wife, Martha all of Clayton; Ullman Powell of Ferriday; Jessie Hawkins of Antioch, CA; two sisters, Willie O'Neal and Mildred Davis both of Ferriday; twenty five grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren, thirty five great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. And a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ledger Powell, Jr., two sons, Ledger Powell, III and Kareeme Sabir; three daughters, Johnny Powell, Gloria Powell and Juanita Powell. Also six sisters, Pearl Scott, Janie McClain, Mildred Wilson, Barbara Kornbacker, Jessie Sims and Geneva Hall.
