Funeral services for Major Alexander, Sr. 67, of Vidalia, LA will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00am from Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez, MS with Pastor Dywon Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 to 7pm at Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA.

Mr. Alexander, son of Tobe and Rebecca Hawkins Alexander, was born in Vidalia and died at his residence. He was a retired janitor for Concordia Parish School System.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie Thompson Alexander and one son, Major Alexander, Jr.

Major was a avid supporter of Vidalia Jr. High and Vidalia High Schools sports.

He leaves to mourn his passing two sons, LaVan Thompson and his wife, Angela of Natchez, MS; Dywane Alexander of Orlando, FL; three daughters, Casandra Thompson, Angela Foster and her husband, Alex; LaTricia Taylor and her husband Michael all of Natchez, MS; one god child, SeKina Hobbs and her husband, Dre' of Detroit, MI.

Also one sister, Louella Glover of Oakland, CA; one brother, Samuel Hawkins of Texas; four sisters-in-law, Deloris Calvin, Patricia Johnson and Antionelle Calvin and Tracy Calvin all of Natchez, MS; one aunt, Ethel Hawkins of Vidalia; fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
