Funeral services for Mary Harrison Melancon, 72, of Ferriday, LA will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00am at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ferriday. She will be interred beside her husband, Alex James Melancon at the Natchez National Cemetery in Natchez, MS. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Melancon, daughter of William Henry Harrison, Sr. and Alice Lee Person Harrison, was born in Taboro, NC and died at her residence in Ferriday. She was a former employee of General Motors as an assembly line worker. She was also a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Fannie Smith and her husband, Clarence of Ferriday; three sisters, Honermiss Gorham and her husband, Emanuel; Althelia Bishop and her husband, Arthur; Lolia Harrison all of New Port News, VA; three grandchildren, De'India Smith and Alex Harrison both of Ferriday; Anthony Smith of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren and an number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her husband and one son, Moses Taylor, Jr.
