Services for Mrs. Minnie Sanders Burks, 78, of Ferriday, LA will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 11:00am from New Morning Star Baptist Church in Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery with Rev. Willie Birdon officiating.

Mrs. Burks, daughter of George Sanders and Rowena Jackson was born in Ferriday and died at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.

She was a member of New Morning Star Baptist Church and was a avid crossword puzzle fan. She was often seen sitting in her yard working puzzles.

She is survived by two sons, Karl Burks of Ferriday and Willie Burks, Jr. and his wife, Lillie of Kenner, LA; two daughters, Marilyn "Rose" Gordon and her husband, Sylvester of Ferriday; Aundra Rhodes and her husband Gregory; one brother, Sam Sanders all of Houston, TX; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Burks is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Almeda Hunter and Hazel Billups.
