Funeral services for Mrs. Myra Burks Walker, 72, of Ferriday, LA formerly of Waterproof, LA will be held Thursday, September 21, , 2017 at 11:00am from Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Good Samaritan Cemetery in Waterproof. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Walker, daughter of Clarence and Annie Nelson Burks, was born in Waterproof, LA and died at Camelot Leisure Living in Ferriday where she had been a resident for the last eighteen years. She was retired from Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS as an assistant to a biology professor and a librarian for thirty one years.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Stanley T. and Tamara Smith of Gulfport, MS; one sister, Gloria M. Scott of Homewood, IL two brothers, Charles Stigall and his wife, Wanda of Prairie Village, MO; W. C. Brown and his wife, Geraldine of Pittsburg, CA; two aunts, Thelma McDonald and Doris Taylor of Detroit, MI; one grandchild, Jazmine Smith of Gulfport, MS and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Walker is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Walker and one sister, Martha Jean Burks.

One September 11, 2017, God held a roll call in Heaven and Myra's name was called and she received her wings. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away." Rev. 21:4
