Services for Vernell Finley, 74, of Monterey, LA will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 11:00am from The Church of God on the Doty Road in Ferriday, LA. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Finley, son of Cicero Finley, Sr. and Ethel Lewis Finley was born in Monterey and died at the Natchez Community Hospital in Natchez, MS. He was retired from the Louisiana State Highway Department as an Herbicide Applicator.

He is survived by his wife, Sadie Watson Finley; three sons, Charles Finley and his wife, Pamela of Monterey; Vernell Finely, Jr. of Dallas, TX; Henry Finely of Orangeburg, KY; thee daughters, Valerie Stevenson and her husband, Derrick; Torrance Finley all of Monterey; Godfrey F. Carson and her husband, Derrick, of Ferriday; one bother, Larine Finley and his wife, Gloria, of Houston, TX; three sisters, Beatrice Johnson and her husband, Ellis, of Shreveport, LA; Mary Branch of Chicago, IL; Emma Lawrence of New Orleans, A; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relative.

Mr. Finley is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.
