Funeral services for Vertina J. Ellis, 94, of Vidalia, LA will be held July 3, 2014 at 11:00am from Young's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Vidalia, LA. Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery with Rev. Leroy Brown officiating.

Mrs. Ellis, daughter of Bennie Ellis, Sr. and Carrie Jones was born in Vidalia and died at her residence. She was a member of Star Light Baptist Church in Vidalia.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary Hill and her husband, Robert; Gertrude Jamison and her husband, Melvin, Jr. all of Fresno, CA; Martha Penn of Patterson, CA; Lou Bertha Ellis of Vidalia; one brother, Bennie Ellis, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; seventeen grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and cousins. Also one aunt, Ludy Smith of Oakland, CA; a cousin, David Ellis of Ferriday.

Mrs. Ellis is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert Ellis.
