Virse Lee "Papa" Jackson was born January 14, 1932 in Carthage, TX. His father was the late J. B. Jackson and mother was the late Bertha Mae Pipkins.

Papa was educated in Carthage, TX and joined the US Army where he faithfully served with "no time lost under the section 6". He then went on to fight in the Korean War in 1953. While serving he was honored with a Combat Infantry Badge, a Korean Svc Medal w/Bronze Svc star, a United Nations Svc medal-a National Defense Svc Medal and a Purple Heart Go119 Hg279th Central Hosp.

His life did not truly began until he met the love of his life Ethel Rae Hawkins in 1983. And shortly after meeting he married his beautiful bride in November of 1983. Their marriage union built a beautiful family of 1 son Jackie Ray Turner (late Carmen Turner wife), 3 daughters, Linda Favorite (Terryl Favorite, husband), Tangela Jackson, and Coletha Francois, husband); 12 grandchildren, the late Treniece Turner, Elizabeth Christine Wilson, Jackie Moore, Jaleesa Moore, Terri Hester, Tracy Favorite, Hope Felder, Christy Favorite, Terryl Favorite, Jr., Denim Charles, Addison Francois, Malaysia Carter, and Ashton Jackson; twenty 28 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He leaves behind this great family as well as an even larger group of friends and family members in Christ.

Papa was known for being a great family man as well a great worker at Jefferson Parish Road & Bridges where he retired in 2000. And he was also a great member, at his home church Westbank Christian Center where he served in many ministries and his favorite was music. He was an awesome addition to the praise team.

Papa was 88 years old when he passed away, but was a man that exercised his body regularly so he was a healthy 88. On Monday, January 11 he died from complications due to Covid-19. He would tell you learn from this. I'm ok because I am with my father but take care of yourselves and follow guidelines to help you and your neighbors. If you ever wondered what Joy looked like, you just needed to look into the eyes of Papa.

The family would like to thank all the friends and family and to join us in celebrating the Life of this great man with us whether near or far. Please continue to walk in the wisdom of God.
